The Crusades were a long-delayed, timid defensive response to Muslim wars of conquest that started in the Middle East, spread across North Africa, crossed the Mediterranean sea, overran Spain until they were finally stopped by Charles Martell at the Battle of Toures in France. They were not expelled from Spain until 1492.

In the east, they conquered the Levant, the Byzantine Empire after the fall of Constantinople, Persia, and into India. They overran the Balkans, Romania, and as far north as Vienna, which they attempted to take until the decisive Battle of Vienna when the Polish cavalry decisively crushed the Ottoman army and the OttomanE Empire began its slow decline and dismemberment by European colonial powers.

The myth of Christian aggression against Muslim conquerors is a lie used by Islamofascists and progressives to call any resistance to Muslim aggression “Islamophobia.” Those who resist the <<<religion of peace>>> are given three choices: convert, submit to an inferior status and pay tribute, or get a sword to the neck.

In American schools, kids are taught that Columbus was an evil conqueror intent on destroying the New World Eden, when in fact he was seeking a trade route to the far East because the Muslim conquest of the Byzantine Empire and the rest of the Middle East effectively made traditional trade routes to China impossible.

I thoroughly enjoy reading about the crusades. I think a point should be made that the Christian foundation of the crusades is faulty. The idea that partaking in the crusade, could add grace, wash away sin, or any other spiritual benefit certainly isn't biblical.
